I had a large glass jar with a metal lid that would not open with all the usual tricks: put rubber bands on the lid and jar for better grip, run hot water on the lid, tap the bottom of the jar, by tapping on the lid. None of this worked, and I have pretty strong hands. Opener worked in 1 second! There are some small scratches on the lid, but the lid is NOT damaged. It may help to put something thin on top of the lid before you put the opener on.
