It is important for nature and video filmmakers to use a fast telephoto lens. But it is very difficult when you are on a budget. Faster lenses over 300mm are very expensive and bulky, you can easily spend over $7,000 for a lens and camera, and lenses over 600mm, where good range starts, are grossly underrated and the weight makes them almost immobile. And here's my invention: the Panasonic Lumix 25-600mm Leica lens is already a huge advantage in a remarkably compact body, as well as price and performance. This teleconverter added size and weight, but it didn't even come close to film or DSLR lenses, and there's no other way to get a 1000mm f2.8 lens. Of course there's a trade-off in image quality, but not that much. The results are in most cases comparable to what I've shot with 12x more expensive large gear and not only am I highly mobilized but I can shoot at distances I couldn't even dream of with DSLR gear. or vidicams at any cost. Great exchange for me. I do not regret the purchase, it meets my expectations. The only complaint I have is the lack of a lens hood and a tripod ring would have been nice, the setup is very heavy up front with the lens added.
