Review on ๐Ÿ”ถ 3M Scotch-Brite Griddle Cleaning System - Quick Clean, Heavy Duty, 3-5 Minute Cleaning, Orange by Justin Philemon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

At the right temperature, it's great!

The stainless steel grill in our church kitchen has not been cleaned in years. There was a thick layer of burned/varnished/food in the middle that we couldn't peel off, so we cooked on the sides and didn't use the middle. I bought this set hoping that finally the whole pan would be clean and ready to use again. The instructions state that you may need to clean more than once for heavily soiled surfaces. I had to use several bags but in the end the whole surface looks evenly clean, there is no dirt in the middle anymore! so i tried to get around 310-320F) BUT NOT TOO HOT. As you can see from some of the reviews here, letting the surface get too hot will give you poor results. How do I check the temperature of a pan? DO NOT RELY ON THE COOKING TEMPERATURE KNOB. You really need to use a flat/grill surface temp sensor. Infrared only works up close and you really can't trust pan handles. So if you use this product, you need to invest in a surface temperature thermometer. After cleaning, I wiped the surface with a damp cloth. Rag, used a block of pumice stone to finish it off, then seasoned the surface again. I'm going to try the whole pan this weekend! Update 2/14/20: I've used this system a few times and it's still great. When I clean a frying pan, several people look at how well it cleans. Last week someone came by after I cleaned it and asked how it got so clean (they had never seen it so clean). Again, the temperature is very important. If your pan is about 400 or higher, the pad will start to melt and fall apart. Read some other people's reviews where their pad and scraper melted - their pan was too hot. You need to check the temperature of the pan closely. How do you know how hot your pan is? Don't trust your hands! To get 320F on my pan I had to set three burner knobs to 110F, Off and 220F. You must use a good surface thermometer. Do not use an infrared thermometer. I had a deviation of 100F! So grab a good surface temp gauge, measure everything around it until you get all the dots in the 320-340F range, then apply the product and you've got a great looking pan.
