Review on Enhanced Wireless Motion Detector Driveway Alarm System - DCMA-4000: DCMT-4000 Infrared Transmitter and DCR-4000 Receiver by Stephen Johnson

Quick install with peace of mind.

Installation and instructions were fairly easy. I originally bought this as an added security measure because I've had a car predator snag on my Arlo a couple of times but wasn't aware they were around. The most shocking time was when we were watching TV around 6:30pm and it was dark outside. As for the other cars parked in our driveway, I had no idea until a neighbor stopped and said he chased the man away. My driveway and gravel area is about 30 feet wide and with the monitor set to a 50 foot range I have the entire area covered including part of my front yard. It was a great little monitor for getting notifications of a car pulling up or a package being delivered when we were in the other room. The IR beam is very narrow which is great because I was worried it would turn off when someone is walking their dog or car. Some people mentioned a lot of false positives, but we didn't have that. maybe a handful or so in the last 3 months (all per day). I'll put it this way, in the morning or when the car is cold (mostly white cars) it won't fire, but I don't consider it a deal breaker. When I got the Dakota DCMA-4000 I really had to contact their support after about a week because after setting and testing the DIP switches I noticed the receiver was flickering but there was no sound. I reset and reconnected it according to the instructions and the same result. The support team (who were very helpful btw) told me that because I bought from Revain they may have an older product with a broken speaker because they were getting reports that the speaker wasn't working. They sent me a new speaker and I was able to unplug and replace the old one. Of course I could return/exchange a new unit but being within the return window I figured this was a quick fix and actually solved my problem.
