I am using a cable to power a DVI monitor from a DisplayPort serial output and it works fine. The DVI connector is very large, much larger than the one on my DVI -> HDMI cable. It took me 5 minutes to attach it to my monitor and now there is a very tight bend where the cable meets the housing of the DVI connector. This doesn't bode well for the longevity of the cable. If you're short on space on your monitor's DVI port, you might want to consider something else, otherwise this cable works well at a great price.
