Ok, now I have 3 of these cameras. After a few months I found the following. Pros: The solar panel works very well. Considering we're in Florida, the solar panel can easily keep up with the camera, even with a lot of tinkering. Normally he only loses 10-15% overnight. ***** WiFi is really good for the camera. It's located about 400 feet from home and even with the small antenna that comes with it, it connects but isn't stable and needs to be tried again and again. So I hooked up a 16 inch cellular antenna to it and it works really well with only the occasional drop out. **** Night vision is good for a small camera but with limited distance. It is near 2 solar street lights so visibility improves as the light increases. **Setup is very easy and the pan and tilt controls are pretty good with the thumbwheel compared to the on screen movements that others have. The app is very easy to use and set up the features it contains. **** Limitations: The detection distance for the recording activation is very limited. The camera is mounted on a lamp post about 10 feet off the ground and 10 feet from the curb. Vehicles won't be detected if you get within about 15 feet of the pole from the camera, and you'll typically only capture the rear half of the vehicle due to detection time and camera response. As vehicles pass behind the camera, they will be detected faster if they come into view within the detection area. If the camera is mounted at a reasonable height (8-10 feet) for security reasons, too much detection distance will be lost. *The video quality is clear, but details such as the number plate of a car moving at 40 km/h cannot be seen. The recorded video should be better at the advertised 1080p resolution. Just missing out on too much activity that should be within reach. * The lack of a continuous video function causes many limitations. With good charging capability or a solar panel this should be an option when writing to a card. * I don't use the notification feature as it uses the camera for security/documentation and not notification. However, this is easily configurable in the app. Is it worth it - yes, but the detection distance still needs improvement to start recording. What this camera needs: Better detection sensitivity for faster motion detection. Faster response when motion is detected when activating recording. Possibility of continuous recording with sufficient solar/battery power. For example, install an extra battery in the solar panel, use trail cameras if necessary. scalability. Ability to save specific location instructions for retrieval, like a powered PTZ camera. And yes, the camera shakes in the wind thanks to the plastic mount, causing unnecessary alerts when in use.
