I've been looking for a gimbal for my 300MM F4 for a long time. After buying an extender for this lens, I decided the ball head just doesn't cut it. A recommendation is to buy a long lens support plate to adjust the balance. My 7D with handle and lens extended was again heavy on the 2" stand so I bought a 4.5". Probably a 4" could have been used instead as the plate is pressed against the grip and had to be mounted on the camera along with the lens to position it correctly. It's okay but you should know. You can do it yourself don't mount a camera on it and the gimbal isn't for it but Jobu makes an accessory that does this for the price. The stabilizer is strong yet surprisingly light and the arm is adjustable to three heights.I mostly leave it on one Dedicated tripod but I have a spare ball head center column if I don't want to use a telephoto lens or convert in the field without another tripod In my opinion BIF is a must have gimbal and I regret waiting so long for it .Buy this one and you won't regret it.
