Review on Brother DS 640 Compact Document Scanner by Jimmy Hargrove

Worth the money

In short, the scanner arrived on time, in good condition and works as advertised on my MacBook Pro . Now for the full review… Disclaimer: I mainly use this for one-page documents; I scanned a 14-page document at most. I cannot comment on any software other than DSmobileCapture that runs the scanner, such as BR-Receipts or Presto!PageManager. because I don't need them yet. The scanner is excellent though. This works better than I expected. Brightness and contrast can be adjusted to optimize scanning. Scanning multiple pages is easy; Just check the "Multi-Page Output" box. In the Options section you can also set the page orientation, e.g. B. Scan receipts sideways and scan files right side up. It may not sound impressive, but side-insertion helps keep PDFs nice and square, that's a lot of documents that you DO NOT need to rotate 90° manually. Finally, I was concerned about feeding my documents straight so the PDFs wouldn't come out skewed, but it turns out that's not a problem. The DSmobileCapture software automatically finds and aligns the top edge even when the page is skewed, and tries to align PDF files. The only annoyance I have is that you have to type EACH PAGE manually instead of storing them in a batch and processing them individually by the machine. Overall, the convenience of a handheld scanner and the time I save now compared to my previous scanning methods are well worth the money.
