Review on Enhanced Delphi FG0229 Fuel Pump Module by William Fowler

I have a 1996 Explorer XLT 4.0 OHV 4 Door USA. All of this data is important if you have a '96 or earlier because Ford, in their infinite wisdom, chose to use different fuel pumps with different Explorer variants. Delphi FG0229 is listed as compatible with my variant but ends up being slightly different. In my version, the pump motor is attached to the pump frame with three bolts. Two screws thread into the center of the pump and one threads into the stud on top of the pump, near where the pump connects to the metal fuel lines. The pump I received has two screw mounting points but no stand. for the top screw. Maybe Delphi redesigned it so you could drop the third screw, but I didn't want to risk it. In short, be very careful. You may need to order multiple pumps and hope one is the right one. Despite my reservations about using Chinese pumps I finally settled on the Spectra pump but to their credit their website is outstanding and a replica of my old pump.
