Ball joint confusion

The car I fitted the lowers to was a Ford Explorer and the lowers were fine but when I got in I had to order the upper control arms as the ball joint and control arm consisted of one piece. one piece. But now I can only get the upper ball joint because the replacement control arm and ball joint are two pieces.
