We have had branded versions of the ceiling fan remote control kit in another home and couldn't wait to install it in our new home too. The key feature we were looking for was the thermostat function. You set the starting temperature which is 74°F and the fan will turn on automatically when you turn it off. If the temperature rises by 3°, it switches to the next speed level and after another 3° to the highest level. - When the temperature drops, it switches back to the middle and lowest level. This is especially useful in bedrooms when you're awake at night, to adjust fan speed to temperature changes. I've found that the fan's normal lowest ceiling setting is usually a bit too high. To compensate, I manually set the ceiling fan to medium speed, which would then be the highest speed the remote could switch to, with positions 2 and 1 each being lower. This makes the first step a perfect gentle breeze to start with. The light dimmer also works very well with a single button. Hold it and it will toggle from low to high to low. After switching to your preferred position, all you have to do is briefly press the same button to turn it on or off.
