Review on ☕ Bodum 34 Ounce Bistro Gooseneck Electric Water Kettle, Black - 11940-01US by Shane Watson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works well, only 1100 watts, no cord compartment and smells funny.

I wanted to love this kettle, but there are a few things the manufacturer could do better. I'll start with the bad: 1. As mentioned, it smells strange, most likely plastic or paint. It'll be up and running in a month or so and the boiled water itself doesn't smell, but Bodum could do better here. 2. The kettle is rated at 1200w, but the one I received only used 1100w at 120v, so it takes longer than it should to boil water. I was looking forward to a 1200w kettle when many other models of this size and design are only 1000w. 3. There is no way to fold the cord in the base to change the length like any other kettle I've had. The user must find an alternative way to remove the extra cable. On a positive note, the ergonomics are excellent and I find it much easier to pour water accurately than other gooseneck kettles I've used. I also like the large opening and the easy-to-read maximum level indicator.
