Once opened, I filled it to the max line, let it boil, then poured out the water and air dried. Never smelled like plastic again

I took the chance to buy this kettle because the reviews are not very good. It has no smell. I love it! Bodum has done it again. Very well done and beautiful!

Love it. It looks very nice in our coffee bar. It has thin walls so it heats up quickly. I was expecting it to be double walled so it looked a bit cheap when I opened it. I just wish it had a temperature sensor so I could control the pace of brewing tea or blooming yeast.

There is a large piece of plastic where the water boils. When it gets hot it starts smelling like burnt plastic. Not great at all. Other than that issue, there was no indication on the box that it was brand new. I felt like I got an item that others have used and returned. This is definitely something you can't expect from a $60 kettle.

Very aesthetic and comfortable! I didn't know it was strictly on/off so you can't choose the temp and it won't keep the temp constant. Not a big deal as it's fairly well insulated and retains heat for a while, but if you're super picky about the temperature of your drinks, you're out of luck.

I wanted to love this kettle, but there are a few things the manufacturer could do better. I'll start with the bad: 1. As mentioned, it smells strange, most likely plastic or paint. It'll be up and running in a month or so and the boiled water itself doesn't smell, but Bodum could do better here. 2. The kettle is rated at 1200w, but the one I received only used 1100w at 120v, so it takes longer than it should to boil water. I was looking forward to a 1200w kettle when many other models of this…
