Bought several of these Irwins in various sizes. Everything is made of the same durable material and closes easily. The double thread allows effortless work. The neck is 3 inches deep enough to reach and hold with wooden planks for stability or whatever else you need to pinch. You will find that they are all heavy and well built, you can not only see it but feel it, from the smallest size to the larger 8 inches. Damage isn't a problem, and even if it were, you can always add something between the clamp pad and what you're clamping for more secure protection. Irwin makes really great C-Clips, you won't be disappointed with any of them. You pay the price but get a great product. I'm not an Irwin representative, just a regular guy who enjoys working with wood at home, "do it yourself", who likes good woodworking tools.
