Taylor Instant Read Thermometer reads the right temperature in about 10 seconds. In fact, if you're willing to accept the difference between the true temperature and the approximate temperature a few degrees lower, I'd say 8 degrees. This is done for about $15. Other digital and mechanical thermometers I've tried take up to 20-30 seconds and can be as low as $25. Considering the fastest thermometer I know registers in 3-4 seconds (which is really awesome) but costs around $80, this should be a great thermometer at an unbeatable price. My only objection. It came with a spare battery (wow) but no one can figure out how to use it when the original battery (also included) wears out. It also has an on/off switch. One day in the rush of events I'll forget and... there it is, maybe the only battery.
