Protective case sticks really tight. When I finally untied it and the meat thermometer came out, the top of the device fell off and one of the wires was broken. I just threw it away. Don't waste your time with complaints and returns. Don't buy the same thing again.

I was very disappointed. As a barista, I used it to measure the temperature of milk. When I first pulled it out of my sleeve, the top part popped out exposing the batteries and cables. It pooled again but the next time I used it it popped out again and with it the wires! It updated the temperature much more slowly than comparable thermometers and was generally disappointing. The seller refunded my money in full.

After pulling the battery securing tab and trying to turn on the devices, nothing happened. Both screens were blank. We've been using Taylor Instant Reading Thermometers for over 15 years. I always bought a professional model - there were always several pieces. This is an inexpensive consumer model but with a large text display which I like.
