
Choose F or C, then pierce the cooked meat whose temperature you want to check. Press the power button and it will quickly heat up to meat temperature. As a side note, this will extend the life of the button's internal battery if you remember to quickly press the button again to turn it off when you take it out of the meat. I say this because the last one I had, identical in size and appearance, drained the button battery in less than a year, then the unit broke when I tried to replace the battery, which is why I bought this new one. Also, always rinse the metal probe before putting it back in the holder to prevent bacteria from multiplying in the holder.
