So I almost gave up on it because of internal thread leaking issues. I was ready to put it back in the box and return it, but decided to give it one last try. I removed the shower bracket and filed the end of the thread. Sawing created a wider flat surface at the ends of the threads, increasing the contact area for sealing. I also polished the surface with a rock because, hey, I'm that guy, right? I used a washer I bought at a hardware store to replace the washer that came with the retractor and did not use teflon tape. It worked and I'm happy because it's a really nice product. So everything is fine in the world of our soul and the woman still cannot appreciate what a fluid flow genius I am. Hope this helps someone else. Five stars if it works out of the box. Again, I wouldn't have the adventure and trip to Home Depot if it worked the first time. wood wool!
