I bought two of these filters to filter my whole house. One has a pre-filter and the other has a carbon filter. I used a 1" to 3/4" adapter as none of my plumbing systems are 1" in diameter! As long as they work fine; no leaks. One of the large o-rings was too big and didn't fit, but I finally got it to work. Happy with the purchase especially as they are not very expensive. I note that the instructions say to change the filter housing after 10 years. I think they are concerned about the possible failure of the plastic .
