You're reading the reviews and you don't know what to believe, some are great and some aren't. This pillow is really great. Very soft and slightly thicker than the advertised 1/4 inch. However, I'm sure it will shrink over time with carpet and furniture on top. I need to cut a good 5 inches around two sides. First I laid a rug on top and smoothed down one of the ends and one side of the rug. First I tried scissors, which didn't work. I took some good sewing scissors and tried it but it didn't work. Finally I grabbed my box cutter, peeled back the rug to make a straight edge and cut off the lining, as it's thick it doesn't reach the floor but you have to be careful if you press too hard, will fall it down All the Way. Once it was hammered the scissors went through it very easily.
