Review on Cable Matters 50 Pack of Shielded Modular Connectors by Jonathan Yang

What is not in the instructions!

Although small loading bars have helped with ordering stripped wire, the loading bar clearly does not solve the age old problem and time consuming method of ordering and inserting stripped wire. In fact, I don't think the loading bar helped much at all on my first connector crimped for this type of connector, and may have significantly increased the time to complete the crimping, trying to complete that task with vague instructions. on the Revain.com product page. 2017-10-09: Another connector has been completed and the load bar helps a lot in maintaining wire order when plugging and re-plugging into the connector for the test installation. You can also use the rod as a marker to cut wires up to 5/8 inch long or whatever length you measure and cut. ideal for crimping RJ45 connectors. One final note: With these RJ45 connectors, the transparent translucent connector window makes it even more difficult to see if the order is correct after crimping. Maybe it's due to using a larger gauge CAT-6 UF (Direct Burial) cable, but that's doubtful. Here is a full list of assembly instructions, including approximate shell strip length and minimum shoe spacing. 1) Put the cuff on the CAT-5/CAT-6 cable and out of the way. 2) Remove approximately 3/4 to 1 inch of the case. (The wire is eventually trimmed to a usable 5/8 inch.) TIP: To avoid risky cutting, use an NM/Romex wire stripper purchased from Home Depot, more specifically Ideal's "Lil' Ripper Stripper". 3 ) Remove foil, windings and inner core 4) Bend back exposed aluminum ground/ drain wires. Since these ground/drain wires tend to always come together when bent back, I prefer to ensure that the bundle of ground/drain wires is parallel to the main leg of the ground/drain crimp of the aluminum shielded RJ45 connector with the aluminum over-sealed Crimp runs around the outer jacket. Some suggest soldering these ground/ground wires, but I caution that heat can significantly damage the wire/cable's protective sheath, regardless of whether a heatsink is used, since there is no clearance. Ruler, order and insert into the loading rail. Use wiring diagram T568A or T568B. The T568A pattern appears to be the more common pattern, while the T568B pattern is the older pattern. (See the Wikipedia article TIA/EIA-568 and print out the wire color patterns and connector pin numbers.) The loading bar is oriented correctly, if you look at the loading bar from the back, the "M" pattern starts at the bottom of them". This corresponds to the "M" pattern of the plug with the RJ-45 plug stretcher facing down so the number one pin is on the left or the green pairs are on the left 6) After the wires are ordered and successfully loaded into the loading bar, plug the cable into the RJ-45 connector and make sure pins #1 and #2 are the green pair, etc. Some extra striped wires are still visible, and it is a fun trial fit.) Pull the cable away from the connector along with the load bar and trim the stripped wires so that at least 5/8" of the stripped wire is showing. Insert into the back of the RJ45 connector and ready to crimp sides. TIP: Use the loading bar as a marker when using a tape measure or ruler to measure 5/8 inch or the length you want to cut. However, the bar is easy to move. 8) Secure the cable with an RJ45 crimping tool! (I'm not sure if there is a specific compatible crimping tool, but I used an available Klein Tools RJ45 crimping tool purchased from Home Depot.) Aluminum ground/drain terminals using fingers and a pair of pliers, leaving excess exposed Ground/drain wires are cut wires. Hold the crimped plug and press the boot down until it is flush with the socket. TIP: I check the wire order every time I insert and remove striped cables into an RJ-45 jack. PROS1) Very light cable 2) Jacket is very smooth, seems to contain some kind of teflon coating? CONS 1) Unclear cable instructions. 2) The transparent translucent window of the connectors does not show the color order of the wires clearly. A bit more complicated than ideal RJ45 connectors, as if it were an easy task to begin with!
