While the item in the photo appears grey-grey the "Thread" engraving on item is actually a very shiny silver color and shimmers brightly in the light, matching the protective silver border around the edge of the pendant. It's put together very nicely. The loop is strong and quite large. You should be able to use almost any chain or cord with it, including thicker rope or box chain. This pendant does not come with its own chain, so you will need one to wear it. The figure itself is a nice size, just over a quarter for comparison. The item was packaged in a beautiful gift box along with a certificate of authenticity stating where it came from. Very good for the money and a perfect gift.
