If you are reading this review then you are used to electronic devices like this that either come across or don't. I originally bought it with the intention of only getting it to work at full power (this is possible if you don't connect the device to the motherboard via the supplied 4-pin connector). I was initially very happy with this unit and it did a great job with the fans I installed (I have 6 fans). However, when I monitored the sound level, I noticed that it fluctuated much more than usual. At this point, I noticed that the fans would suddenly slow down and then speed up again. Considering that real PWM functionality is now available, this should not have been the case. When I went to reconnect and turn the computer back on. It seemed like even less power was being delivered to the block. At this point I decided to stop messing around and switch to my old fan hub (which unfortunately isn't quite as flat, but that's ok). Do not buy this hub, it is not reliable. EDIT: After retesting a supposedly dead device (curiosity can really drive you) I was able to get a better connection and it seemed to kick the fan on and work better. However, the verdict holds true if it can reliably power the fans. I'll update if things improve, but I can't guarantee it.
