After a few washes I began to wonder if there was anything else going on than overconfidence and marginal ability. I took a closer look at the front mounted Hans Damf and found that most of the side tabs at the base of each horn were partially torn. A local hotshot recommended Magic Mary. While I did notice slightly more rolling resistance and a few ounces more weight, the Magic Mary made up for it with grippy traction on both soft and loose ground. I even hit slippery roots in corners that would have ripped out my front end with previous tires and find traction instead. I opted for the Super Gravity case, which is probably the main reason for the extra weight. Setting it up to work tubeless will take a lot of stans, some patience and an air compressor, but it's certainly possible. All in all, this is my new favorite front tire.
