🚵 MTB Tire - Schwalbe Magic Mary with Snakeskin and Trailstar Technology Review

Simply the best front tire I have ever used, many different tires in my 30 years of motorcycling. Accelerates properly on wet and loose roads, pure grip! Wears surprisingly well as a bonus.

I've been using this tire as a front tire for over a year now (bought a spare and haven't used it yet). Traction is fantastic; I haven't experienced any skidding no matter how fast I drive. I don't find the rolling resistance too bad for an aggressive tire. Even on asphalt it rolls well enough.

I bought this tire to replace the stock front tire on my MTB. Before the new tire, my front tire was "washed out" in tight corners. I wanted a Magic Mary for better grip and side bite. Wow what a difference. I ride South Florida on established trails and loose sand in places. I wasn't cheap and I'm glad I didn't.

Great tires but a bit heavy for XC. They'll get the job done safely and stay on the trail like no other. They are a bit too big for my bike because I noticed a bit of friction in tight corners, which can be annoying when going uphill. I should have ordered a thinner model, my fault. I ride the Scott Scale 970 27.5.

Grip with these tires is exceptional. I tried one of these as a front end on a bike with wide carbon rims and the combination is amazing. I've never had tires that good. The Nobby Nic I had in the back couldn't hold on to Mary. The clutch is absolutely complete. I mainly ride them on rocky, technical trails with the occasional looser section. I'll try them on weaker tracks soon and I'm curious about the verdict.

After a few washes I began to wonder if there was anything else going on than overconfidence and marginal ability. I took a closer look at the front mounted Hans Damf and found that most of the side tabs at the base of each horn were partially torn. A local hotshot recommended Magic Mary. While I did notice slightly more rolling resistance and a few ounces more weight, the Magic Mary made up for it with grippy traction on both soft and loose ground.
