No, most people use seals differently, but they had the properties I wanted. It was wide, had an adhesive backing, and was just the right thickness. I wrapped it around my old Buick's steering wheel to cover it and soften it for a better look. It was very cheap, so I took a chance. To be honest, it didn't hold up so well on my 50-year-old handlebars, but that wasn't expected at the time either. This material sticks to itself very well, so if you layer it on top of each other it has excellent adhesion. I've made my wheel and I have enough left over to make two or three more.
