I bought this coffee maker as a New Year's gift for my mother in December 2013. Our family has never had a problem with Mr Coffee brand coffee makers, both high-end and low-end models. Since my parents are renovating the kitchen in February 2013 and most of the household appliances were made of stainless steel (stove, microwave, toaster, fridge), I chose this model. Plus the LED clock was a nice touch. After Christmas was over and the presents were unwrapped, my mom quickly used her new coffee maker. It did what it was supposed to do including the water filter which was nice. Then, until last week, on a Saturday morning my mom was making her usual morning breakfast, filtering the coffee beans and pouring water into the tank. My mom went to wash dishes and later when she came back to check her coffee, the water tank was empty and lying on the floor. Not sure how or where the leak came from as the tank is enclosed in a kettle but we had to mop up a lot of water. For a $50 coffee maker I expected more, our $19 Mr. coffee makers have never had these problems/faults in the last 25 years. My friend's relatives (cousin to be precise) had the exact same model and had the same problem with a leaking water tank. Her cousin received a coffee maker as a Christmas present from his employer, Halliburton. After hearing this and experiencing the same thing, I will never pay that much money for a Mr Coffee machine again. If it was one of their $15 or $19 models I wouldn't think much about it, but almost triple the price, forget it.
