I'm just a clueless westerner but I love my new ink stein, the process is really relaxing and you can mentally prepare for your task and clear your mind. I was curious if the ink would work with my fountain pen and it does! It writes grey, almost like a watermark, I guess I still need to work on it but I can read what I've written well and the ink flows well through the pen. I would buy some brushes but I don't know if English letter is compatible. I made a few and kept them in the fountain for later use. I bet I'll have to mix or shake the solution the next time I write. The notch built into the stone isn't ideal for a pen, it's made for brushes, but I managed to make enough ink to roll some ink onto the pen. I recommend a separate well for this. Patience is the main ingredient of this stone. Patience makes ink better and handwriting better. Lastly, the included device does a lot of ink, but I bought two extras just in case.
