I bought this system knowing that CA makes reliable quality speakers and I hope they will last a long time but they are not perfect because there doesn't seem to be one Bluetooth 2.1 system there. Yes, the build quality is very good. Thick insulated speaker wire, good connections, case etc. I wish the speakers had mesh covers for protection. Good thing the woofer doesn't have a bottom speaker that easily breaks when lifted. Nice compact size. Sound quality is strong and solid, but lacks high frequencies. I need to keep the treble high and the bass low and still use the equalizer on my phone's music player to push the treble even further. Anyone who likes hollow sound will love this system. Line-in is even worse, even with my TV's treble turned up and bass turned down. The subwoofer controls are on one side and the power button is on the back. To access everything, I face the wall and hold it to the left of my tilted flat panel (which will likely bounce the bass off the wall even more). ), and the ugly back is turned inside out. Too bad 2.1 speaker manufacturers don't seem to realize that people turn off these desktop systems when not in use. Power buttons should not be on the back of subwoofers! (And if we're going to put them under things on the floor, we'll need a wired control box that includes all the controls and a power button, and much longer speaker cables.) ....Anyway....Bluetooth - easy to connect and has a good offering . What I hate is that it has default settings that it reverts to every time you power cycle the system. Your last settings will not be saved. Extremely annoying! 1) The source will return to Bluetooth each time the device is turned on again. If I have a line in plugged into my TV, I want it to stay on! It was in the manual so I knew it could be annoying, but to my unpleasant surprise there was something else, much worse: 2) The useless party lights turn on again and go to the first in a LONG color selection line, all the time. the time at which the system is switched on again. Terrible, terrible, terrible design. I bought this system for other reasons and want the lights to be off all the time. This should be my PERMANENT choice! I have this in a rental property and I planned on turning them off and covering the light button so renters would never turn them on. But NO, every time the system turns on, the light comes on again and you have to click on all the colors of the light to get to the last and final selection, which is finally off! (SMX is confused and disappointed.) So, uh, I HAD to leave the light button open. IN THE INSTRUCTIONS THESE UNFAIR DETAILS WERE NOT MENTIONED! Is it possible to separate the lighting wires without disturbing the sound? No idea. But one day I will look inside. Overall sound is good but lacks highs, Bluetooth and build quality are excellent, line-in sounds muddy, the device has many controls but the power button is poorly placed... and finally, the default settings that are forced upon us are really bad. How about CA making another unlit version of this Bluetooth speaker? That would be nice.
