Review on Dorman 955 1788 Mitsubishi Extendable Replacement by Michael Ward

Fits Mitsubishi Galant 2009

Broken Passenger Mirror needs to be replaced with a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant. Looks pretty much the same as the manufacturer's, except the base (the triangular part) doesn't sit nearly as flat as the manufacturer's, but it's really very minimalistic. As such, it has a matte black finish, making it easier to prepare for a custom paint job. I don't currently paint it to order, but if I do I don't want to deal with nail polish removal. To solve a few problems, others have decided to leave a review about the product. 1) MY mirror didn't come with rubber nuts but rubber protection pads for the screws. It seemed pretty obvious to me what they are and what they do, but honestly if you don't know what they are/do you might think them crazy and use them to "attach" a mirror to your car ". Rubber protectors are quite tight. But assuming someone gets real rubber nuts (they exist, I've used them in other applications), common sense should tell you, the consumer, that if the mirror you're replacing has metal nuts, use these both should be replaced with nuts or similar metal nuts. So don't go crazy (<---- see what I've done?) and not blame the seller/manufacturer of this mirror for making the decision to use rubber to attach an item to an item fasten moving over different surfaces on a normal foundation. 2) The "folding" aspect of the mirror. To be fair to those who complained, they're right it doesn't work, and all but one didn't state WHY they wanted the damn mirror to fold. Who wanted it to fold pointed out that the "folding" aspect would prevent it from getting hurt if it got caught in something. The news is that it doesn't work. They should be folded up either manually or automatically to protect them from being hit by passing cars when parking in tight parking spaces or when washing the car. If you hit something with your mirror, the folding aspect does not protect it from damage, this feature is not a type of side mirror airbag feature. Personally my car doesn't have an auto fold feature and I wouldn't use it if it did. This is a solid mirror at a good price.
