I use this before applying the wax/sealant to remove any swirl marks that may be present. If you have a new boat, this is probably all you need to keep your gelcoat shiny (assuming you keep it waxed). I apply a few small drops and then spread them over the area I am buffing. By distributing it, it doesn't get thrown away and make a mess. It also ensures there is enough product on the entire area I am polishing. Remember that you must use the correct type of spacer. For the boat I use yellow wool buffalo. For blending I use white 3M wool pads which are not known to be the cheapest product on the shelf; but their products really work. A liter bottle is enough for 3 uses on my 28ft boat. When buffing an oxidized gelcoat, you need something more aggressive to start with. 3M will offer various other compounding products.
