It replaced a bulky 10-socket power strip used as a charging station for my family's numerous devices and greatly reduced clutter. Obviously it's meant to be used on a table or countertop, not on the floor or hidden behind furniture. The unit is compact but has enough room to plug in six AC adapters, which tend to block adjacent outlets on line splitters. sockets are fixed; This is probably intentional to prevent heavy adapters from shifting due to the angled orientation of the outlets. The illuminated power button on top of the device is protected by a clear plastic cap that requires some force to remove (I prefer a solid cap to one that's easy to fall off). The USB charger is surge protected and the 5V 2.1A output is shared between two ports.
