Won't unwrap and flatten

I bought these to get rid of the stupid coiled cord that keeps turning on its own. In someone's infinite wisdom, they keep them tightly folded and flat so they want to return to that folded shape all the time, twisting as tightly as curly cords. There's no point in having a straight cable if it doesn't straighten (I've been using it for a few months now).
