I came across these scrubbers while looking for a vegetable scrubber. After reading reviews from several people who also use it as a sponge, I decided it was worth a try. There is no doubt that this scrubber is ideal for cleaning vegetables. But it also does an excellent job of cleaning cast iron, heavily soiled pots and pans and hard-to-reach places on kitchen utensils. All food residues in the scrubber are easily washed away. It's very durable but doesn't scratch. It's not our run-of-the-mill sponge, but it's nice to have as a backup when you really need more than a soft sponge.
