Pioneer 6000 upgrade

I love this car stereo. It has great sound and is easy to install and set up. The sound I get from this unit hooked up to my 12 year old factory Honda speakers is amazing. Installation is easy, almost no configuration is required. I just had to make a few adjustments. Connecting BT to my Galaxy S4 was very easy. My youngest child was able to connect his iPhone to this device without my help. That's easy. For those of you who, like me, are upgrading from an old Pioneer model to this one, note that the connectors will likely not match. I upgraded from a Pioneer 6000 and at first glance the connections seemed the same. You are not. The new device came with a new plug and the cords were almost identical in color, but the plugs were different. Reconnecting about 12 wires isn't a problem, but you plan on doing this. When installing this device, please note that the two (2) USB ports are still located on the back of the device. No idea why. Some people say they wore them on the back for a "clean look" on the front. They managed to hide the entire CD loader on the front, but how to hide the USB connector, somehow it doesn't work? The AUX IN connector is located on the front and does not spoil the aesthetics of the device. If it were me, I'd just add a small micro SD slot on the front and be done with USB. However, the USB ports on the back are not very tight. The USB cable can be easily detached when inserting the device into the dashboard for final placement after all cables are connected. You guessed it happened to me. No, once it's inserted and locked, you can't put your hand back in. It's too narrow for that. After reassembling the entire dash, I found that the cord had been unplugged after my first performance test. Pay an extra $5 or so and now plug in those two USBs during the initial setup even if you didn't. Plan to only use one of them at first, and then test both before returning the entire dashboard. Stashing a spare USB cable in a place where you can easily reach it later can really save you time in the future. Amazing sound at an incredible price with very easy BT pairing and remote control. This device is one of those things that can only get better if you buy two. And oh yeah, it's fun to play with colors too.
