We have two OLD dogs and we wanted them to lie down somewhere on the 'come home' command. Our house is full of Ikea Hemnes furniture so we either had to find something to match or make something. Luckily that worked out well. It's a little shinier, but works great. It was assembled in less than 10 minutes using a drill with hex bits (although you can use a regular hand hex wrench which will probably take 30 minutes to 1 hour. The instructions were clear and the construction is consistent with most solid wood furniture from Ikea). is definitely good enough for us. The top and bottom are solid wood and the center panels under the slats are fairly thin plywood. I would not recommend this to anyone whose dog is trying to escape or who is chewing on kennels or doors. Your dog will destroy it. This is great for our 10 year old Jack Russell and 12 year old Rat Terrier mix! My only complaint is the paint smell that others have mentioned. The smell is completely gone. So if you want to put it outside to air it out and paint it dry, do it! If you need something for tomorrow, it's probably giving off too many fumes to be safe for your pup right away.
