After Salomon's disastrous decision to end production of the Conquest GTX Mid, they looked like the only long-distance hiking boots with an 8kg pack that had ankle lacing to avoid knee pain on the descents, but alas. Solomon was wrong again. What could have been a good lightweight boot is almost destroyed by a towbar that is too narrow (much narrower than the Conquest, which was without a doubt the best boot ever). The outer little fingers are pushed inward, causing pain that is felt in the first few minutes of walking. These boots are another major disappointment from Salomon; Gone are the days of high-quality, practical and reliable products from this company. It's as if the people in charge of touring products sold washing machines in their previous job and still don't know how to make a good product and/or have no interest in it. Look instead to Meindl Cape Town or Asolo Falcon GV. These products pick up where Salomon left the market.
