Support wife for household sensors and alarms

If wife senses something strange in the house, I let it run to find the smell, gas, etc. with me always. It's good that I can tell you.

Pros
  • One-year trial
Cons
  • Modern

Another good economical tool from Exetech

Great tool for occasional use. Fairly slow zeroing and stabilizing, but very sensitive. I have used it to ensure minimal leaks on newly installed gas lines and it has worked well. Too sensitive to work well for checking the propane connections on my gas grill, but still usable.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not sure

It works fine, but it's funny that the .

Works well but strangely for a device at this price it doesn't come with a case. I'm looking for one now. I bought a $30 anemometer that came with a case, battery box screwdriver, etc. My other Extech products have very poor quality cases and sometimes brittle plastic on the instrument case. Step up your Extech game!

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

scrap. I let it "calibrate" for 20 freaking minutes and the freaking alarm wouldn't go off. I live in a house with no LP or natural gas. I just wanted to turn it on and see how it works and at full sensitivity it just sounds the alarm. How does it make sense? There is NO flammable gas in the house. Are you willing to come back if I can't speak to a representative to explain what's going on?

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • old

EZFlex is easy to use and a great tool Approx

Just got my Extech EZ40 EzFlex and it works great. I opened the box and read the 3 page instructions. They installed the three batteries that come with the device and took it to a place where there is no gas to warm it up, and when it was done they tested it. To make sure it worked, I blew some natural gas out of my stove and he recognized it right away. I knew it worked! I then proceeded to use it for what I originally bought a device for, which was to track the location of a sewage leak thatโ€ฆ

Bad processing. Two bad blocks in a row.

The first unit I received looked good out of the box until I moved it and it rattled a bit. Inside the sensor head is a plastic bracket that should hold the sensor in place. It was detached from the base and moved into the sensor head. I used Revain's returns process to request a replacement. The second (replacement) unit arrived this morning. I immediately checked the sensor mount and found it to be fine. I put the batteries in and he started screaming and wouldn't stop. I tried lowering theโ€ฆ

Good enough detector to find my leak

Bought this to trace a propane leak in my RV. Or rather prove it was a leak in my furnace line as I just added that gas line and we've been getting a propane alarm every night since. However, it turned out that this was not the case - it was the regulator in the oven, the membrane in it apparently burst and began to leak. Without the sensor (or taking it to the store/dealer) I would never have guessed. It took me a while to get used to this detector, but once I saw what it did, it wasn't thatโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Don't really like it, it's ok

Good sensor unit - here are some handy tips for use

Sensitive to natural gas leaks - even at levels you may not feel. I used it to check the quality of the repair and found that the repair work had not been completed. The gas line fitter didn't believe it at first, but he confirmed with his device that he hadn't properly tightened a clamping screw leading to the gas line meter. there may be a gas leak. It may squeak at first unless you turn the sensitivity down. Then I turn the dial until I hear a chirp. The level at which the chirp startsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pleasant to use

  • Not automatic

Call Me Risky Johnny Dangerous!

Some 3/8 inch copper LPG pipes need to be made. I've never flared copper tubing before. What can go wrong? There is no room for error when flaring gas fittings. So I practiced flaring the replacement copper pipes until I felt confident enough in my job to make the gas lines. The gas lines "looked" fine. Now there is a problem. One of the flare fittings went into a hard-to-reach location where it was not possible to do a thorough joint leak test. As a newbie to this torch, I had to test thisโ€ฆ
