I also had connection problems. I found that the center pin spring was too strong for the spring lugs that hold it in the socket. After I released her, she bounced back just enough to break/form a weak connection. Luckily I had a box of other 12v plugs and found a weaker spring (or I wanted to cut the spring and stretch it a bit). After swapping out the spring for a weaker one, it was able to maintain the connection without overcoming the friction holding the fork. After this repair it seems to be doing its job.
