Review on Plastics 2000 KYDEX Sheet 0 080 by Robert Aliraqi

Either I got a different product than all the other reviewers or I really just don't know how to work with Kydex. This is MUCH worse than the Boltaron thermoform product I bought at the same time. To be honest, this material is also much cheaper. I've made a few cases and a holster out of other materials and they were much easier to work with, I was able to shape and reshape them a few times with a heat gun to hold a small part without changing the Kydex. When I used a heat gun to mold this product, the gloss changed abruptly and unevenly. This product also drastically changed its shape for me. I cut an 8" x 9.5" piece last night that was just the size I needed to have an extra inch in all directions. (Absolutely sure, I measured 3 times and cut once) When heated, it shrunk nearly an inch in one dimension and lengthened slightly in the other. I needed an 8.5 x 8.5 inch image. It was still big enough to work, but the project was shelved for many other reasons. This material is extremely difficult to work with compared to the other type I bought. I bought two packs of 2 of these sheets and will be returning the unused pack and trying to get a refund for the entire order. Spend a little more mint and buy FAR SUPERIOR Boltaron Thermoform.
