I don't know how they decided it was enough for a 55 inch waist. It can be 28 or 30 inches in circumference, if you stretch the elastic all the way you can add about 10 inches but don't close, they say it's 55 inches. However, this is a good fanny pack. I have a larger phone and was worried it wouldn't fit in my pocket when I saw it, but it fits in pretty easily. Although you probably won't get much more if you have a larger phone or a waist greater than 35 inches. It easily fits a small to medium sized water bottle and has an elastic band around the water bottle pocket to keep it snug. The fabric is pretty good quality, I think it should take a little while. Unfortunately, since the belt is not as big as stated, you cannot wear it on the chest (shoulder-waist belt style), it is too short. But not bad for the price. Just be careful if you plan to wear it across the chest or have a large waist.
