It doesn't matter how the passenger or driver's side is used.
I like that they fit perfectly but what I don't like is how they are positioned on the driver's side and passenger's side and it doesn't even matter because all 4 are the same. Nothing is different from the driver's side to the passenger's side. So if you are only missing 1 on each side, just buy a pack and don't make the mistake I made by buying both sides.
