was stolen with a device that boosts the signal from the car and key fob. My understanding is that cars with this keyless entry/ignition are constantly emitting a signal to reach the authentication key. Once the key fob is in range and the door handle button or key fob unlock button is pressed, authentication takes place and the vehicle is unlocked. The car also knows when the key fob has left the moving car and sounds the alarm. I tested the box with my cell phone - successfully blocked both my home WiFi network (20ft hotspot) and cell phone network. Tested two bags of car keys - Both successfully blocked signals came from the key when locking or unlocking my car. Before I put the key fob in my pocket, I was able to lock/unlock the car from anywhere in the house.
