Review on Duct Black 3920 BK Inches Yards by Scott Welch

Revainrating 3 out of 5

This is no ordinary band!

I bought a 60 yard roll of black and one of white. Revain only allows me one rating, so this review will focus on both the black and white versions of this tome. Except for the color, they are almost identical in material. However, note that they are very different from the gray 3M tapes that you sell in stores. First, this material is quite thin and folds so easily that it's difficult to lay it on a surface without it folding on its own and sticking like regular tape. 2. This material is more plastic than a normal air duct. Band that usually has some kind of fabric structure. 3. I'm not very good at hand tearing this stuff which regular tape does just fine. Even my scissors don't cut it well, it's too flimsy and plasticky. It's like trying to cut through plastic wrap. Fourth, black is very dark and hides most of the dirt. But the slightest dust in the air or on the surface makes the white band ugly. It seems to pick up any form of dust and dirt from either side of its surface. I bought the white one to cover the white flat ethernet cable that goes through the white tiled door. I wanted the cable to not snag the door when opening or closing and to protect it a bit from kicks. But this tape is so thin that I had to spend a lot of time laying it on the floor as it contracted on its own before it could be attached to the floor. And after 5 minutes, the white tape looked like elephants were walking on it. Black smudges on it that actually sink into the tape. And it will be lost from the previously cleaned floor because the glue is so weak. Both the black and white tape I bought just can't be used without tufts and then it doesn't stick very well to surfaces other than itself! It's nothing more than the regular gray duct tape we're all familiar with. I am disappointed in both the black and white reels that I have purchased. I'm almost wondering if this is a fake from 3M even though it says it's from them. Over the years I've learned to rely on the quality of 3M products, but this tape is anything but quality. Each roll says 'Made in China', while the gray stuff you get in stores says 'Made in the USA'. I think that explains some of them. I pray they don't replace the awesome original gray tape with this inferior stuff! I ended up buying black and white gorilla tape here at Revain. The quality was much better than 3M from China.
