I have a home theater system that uses an IR blaster system to control the electronics about 15 feet from the screen. I was trying to use this to connect an IR sensor with a male audio jack to this adapter. The adapter was then plugged into the HDMI wall socket. The HDMI cable runs through the ceiling to the IR receiver/blaster where at the other end I had to connect a second HDMI/Audio adapter to the HDMI cable and then connect the male to male cable that came with each adapter to my IR Receiver / Blaster Controller. The IR sensor did not respond. My current setup involves connecting my IR sensor to a 2 wire audio jack in the wall and a third wire from the IR sensor to the CATV cable. The CATV cable and speaker wires run through the ceiling and end at the IR receiver/blaster controller where I connected a 3 wire audio plug and plugged the jack into my IR receiver/blaster controller. The current system works great, but I had to hook up a fourth speaker at the front of the room to be able to hook up a subwoofer to it. I was hoping an HDMI to audio adapter would work to free up 4th speaker wire connections. nope It did not work. I'm looking for VGA connectors around my house to see if I can use them to connect my IR blaster system. If that doesn't work I will return both adapters.
