Review on Dorman 600-400 4WD Locking Hub Solenoid for Ford / Lincoln Models by Jay Williams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If you haven't already replaced this, do so before your hub drives fail.

Replaced after reading how the original vacuum solenoids let water from the windshield into the vacuum lines which then got into the IVR (hub drives) and spoiled them. My original hub drives fell apart when I took them off. If you received it like the picture, you may need to move the vacuum solenoid to the other side of the case. I have a 2005 F-150 and didn't have enough slack in the vacuum lines to keep it on the side it was originally on. This is very easy. The easiest way to install is to remove the battery, but you can install without removing the battery. The original is easy to remove, but the protective plastic cover makes installation not that easy. Just make sure you can improvise and have a magnetic nut remover handy as you will likely drop the bottom nut a few times.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No power
