It works if you let it sink in.

I bought this for my 2002 F150 because it was the cheapest I could find. I mean it's a 16 year old truck; how much I want to spend on different parts, right? The installation took about an hour because I did a lot of thinking and had a weak flashlight. Someone used to digging through car doors can do the job in 15 minutes. Seems well done. It's heavy for its size and the plastic slats feel flawless. I'm assuming there's some kind of magnet inside that pushes or pulls depending on which input is supplying power. However, it works, it works. button, remote control, whatever. push-lock and passenger door locks; Push the release according to the Ford F150 owner's manual and it will unlock. This isn't rocket science. It is inserted into a support designed to receive it. It also connects to the rod that controls the lock. Don't be surprised, but there's also an electrical connection to the relay that controls it. Don't worry, you can't reverse-wire any of these connections. It is physically impossible to install it incorrectly without an incredible amount of effort. Just go with the flow and everything will be fine. I have read reviews that complained about this item. The reality is, this is a sub-$20 auto part that you can probably install in under an hour on a Sunday afternoon while sipping a can of beer. People aren't born with character, it's formed by understanding trade-offs that manifest in their own choices. If you want an inexpensive piece that will open the door for your wife at the touch of a button, buy it. That works fine.
