The thing is not weatherproof - on more than one level: 1. Rainwater penetrated within a very short time. and yes I installed it correctly with the o-ring in place and the cable entry properly sealed2. the supplied screws (to attach the light gray front to the dark gray back) were not stainless steel and rusted faster than I could screw them in, the entire switch stopped working within 2 weeks. Not recommended for any applications and certainly not for anything outdoors.
