I needed HDMI on my RTX 2080 for another device (drawing tablet) but it was taken by Oculus Rift. In the meantime, an unused VirtuaLink USB-C port was available on the GPU. The Accell adapter was the solution to this very problem. Not only did this free up HDMI for my drawing tablet, but it also freed up a USB3 port on the motherboard, allowing the Virtua Link RTX 2080 port to be used effectively to reach for the Rift headset (which I personally don't need as I actually use the sitting at my desk most of my VR time, but still). Without installing a driver, it worked right away. necessary. Seems like reviewers who had issues with it tried plugging it into a regular USB-C port. It only works with the Virtua Link USB C port on the GPU. TO UPDATE. I recently received a Samsung Odyssey+ VR helmet and can confirm that this adapter works great with it too.
