I'm not an artist, so I like to use programs that help to improve the image. When I saw that I could create images on wood with a laser. I was interested. But I thought it would be too difficult because if it were easy, everyone would do it. I decided to take a chance after seeing several vendors showing what they had engraved. (I refer to it as "hand-burning wood" and sell it at insane prices!) I'm a retired military man looking for a cool hobby that can help me make souvenirs for my friends, family, and friends. I don't make any money from this hobby other than donations for supplies, so I watched a few YouTube videos and hoped it all worked and wasn't a waste of money. When I received my engraver, I was immediately struck by how well it was packaged and how careful attention was paid to the safety of the items during transit. This is a big plus in my book as our packages are always treated rudely. I watched the build video and labeled the parts to get it right the first time. Assembly was pretty quick and very easy if you pay attention to which side you attach things to the plexiglass as the holes are in different places for some reason. I paused the video several times to make sure I got it right and the only tools I needed were 2-port cargo screwdrivers. (Because I can use a bit holder to hold the nut while tightening the bolts for the bearings) and I also needed a pair of scissors and a small pair of pliers to hold the nuts to mount the laser. After I had everything together, I downloaded the software from the website. I was a little nervous, but after several failures and many successes, I was confident that I would be able to show my projects. Bachin technical support was a lifesaver! They turned my setbacks into learning moments and are very responsive even when in a different time zone. Like I said, if it were easy, everyone would do it. But I can say for sure. These guys got it right, and it's easy when you forget it's hard. Here's a simple breakdown. There are 2 programs you can download, get them both! Each one does a great job, but you can do different things with them. Engraving Master is my program. He has a lot of control and power to keep things simple. On the plus side, it's quick and easy to use. The downside is that images (aka "bitmaps") take a long time to render. When you create line art (also known as "vector"), those projects complete much faster. My fastest 8x8 inch round vector project took 2 hours, it was a dragon and a tiger with very good detail, and the longest raster project took 80 hours. You can create vectors from bitmaps for free with simple online converters, but it's like turning an image into a drawing. I love vectors! The results are fast and excellent. Bachin Draw is another program that is great for vectors. I'd like to upload photos and videos, but my videos are too big and too long to upload (until I figure out how to make them smaller). I will upload pictures if Revain accepts them. This product is worth the money! Now I have a 500mW version and a 2500mW version. 500mW can do great engraving if you turn the settings down. Keep a notepad close to the engraver for different materials, as different types of wood have different effects. 2500mw can actually cut 1/8" basswood! Again you need to set the parameters correctly. I've used 2500mw to cut wood, vinyl, felt, paper and with the right settings for each material you get amazingly excellent ones Results Results See photos of examples of what I have already created This laser engraver is amazing but you have to see it for yourself Trust me you won't be disappointed!
